The Battlefield 6 multiplayer gameplay reveal event has generated excitement for the upcoming beta and launch of the newest Battlefield title. Featuring LAN matches between esports pros and content creators, the event hinted at the game’s esports potential.
Hosted by Valorant’s casting duo Michael ‘hypoc’ Robins and Lauren ‘Pansy’ Scott, the event included notable players like 100 Thieves’ Nadeshot, OpTic Scump, Call of Duty’s Methodz and Shotzzy, Apex Legends’ Nicewigg, and Counter-Strike’s fl0m.
While the event was mostly for fun, its esports-on-LAN vibe suggests EA Dice may be targeting the competitive gaming scene with Battlefield 6.
The multiplayer launch revealed eight game modes across nine maps, including classics like Squad Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, King of the Hill, and Domination. New to Battlefield 6 is the ‘Escalation’ mode, which starts with multiple capture points that shrink over time, leading to intense late-game battles. It blends Conquest with a Battle Royale feel.
Battle Royale mode itself wasn’t part of the launch but is confirmed to arrive later via Battlefield Labs. It will be free-to-play, though its exact release date remains unclear.
The Battlefield 6 open beta will run August 7-8 for those with code drops from creators, and August 9-10 for all players.
